Vanguard Logistics Services Opens Manchester Warehouse
The company grows in the UK and starts to mark its presence in Europe

(August 04) – Vanguard Global Logistics UK today announces the opening
of its first European Vanguard warehouse. The new service center is located
in Manchester’s Trafford Park, ideally within 1000 yards of Old Trafford,
the home of Manchester United Football Club. The facility has officially
been operating since April of this year.
The service
center will receive import containers which arrive into the port of
Liverpool and also house Vanguard’s export operation for cargo originating
in the North of England. The service center is a key component of Vanguard
operations given that the majority of exports for Box Consolidators
originate in the North of England. Box Consolidators became part of the OTS
Logistics Group last year. The opening of the service center will allow
local Vanguard staff to ensure a high level of service and quality control
by being tightly integrated with operations and customer service.
Ryan Murphy, Managing Director, Vanguard Global Logistics UK, commented, “Vanguard UK has secured a number of third party customers who support Box Consolidators on exports and Vanguard Global Logistics on imports. The operation of our new Manchester facility has led to significantly enhanced support for our export and import products.” “The warehouse in Manchester and its staff have been instrumental in the company’s continued growth in the UK market”, Murphy added. “One of the key decisions we made was to hire seasoned professionals and cargo handling experts like John Birtles, who has been working at this facility for over 35 years. This ensures optimal utilization of containers and handling of cargo.” Vanguard’s UK operation has grown from 11 people in May 2004 to a staff of 50 as of April 2006.
